The Locanda dell’Angelo is the result of a passion that has crossed generations and borders, of a story that began in 1974, when Angelo Paracucchi, chef of Umbrian origins and cosmopolitan spirit, realized his dream of opening a restaurant of Italian haute cuisine in a signature villa designed by the architect Vico Magistretti.
Angelo was a visionary, an innovator, a kitchen artist. With his creativity and quality, he anticipated some of the trends of the new Italian cuisine, such as the attention to freshness and excellence of raw materials, the overcoming of the boundary between sweet and savory, research on the biochemical structure of food, collaboration between the world of cooking and design.
His philosophy was simple but profound: “The kitchen is a forge where the organoleptic substances of food are shaped to create a harmonious composition of flavors, colors and smells. The elements that stimulate the taste buds are sour, bitter, sweet and salty. The perfect dish is the one that achieves the perfect balance between these elements”.
The Locanda dell’Angelo soon became a reference point for gastronomy enthusiasts, thanks to the fame of Paracucchi that also spread abroad, so much so that it opened a restaurant in Paris in 1984. In 1979, the Locanda was awarded a Michelin star.

Paracucchi was also a passionate teacher, who trained and inspired many young chefs, among them there was Stefano, his son, who inherited from his father not only the passion for cooking, but also the love for the Locanda and for Maria Luisa, the woman he married and who supported him in the management of the Locanda.
Stefano and Maria Luisa continued Angelo’s work with dedication and competence. They renovated the Locanda without losing its identity and tradition. They transformed the villa into a charming hotel, where you could stay in one of the 31 rooms and suites, furnished with taste and personality. Each room is different from the others, but all retain the charm of the original villa of the 70s, with large windows overlooking the garden and the Apuan Alps.
In the rooms you will find pieces of furniture and lamps in the 70s style of important brands such as Cassina, Artemide, Flos and Kartell, in the hall and in the restaurant you can admire the sculptures of Walter Dell’Amico, Roberto Fiasella, Renzo Ricciardi, the paintings of Mirko Baricchi, Wilfredo Lam, Luigi Galligani …
La Locanda dell’Angelo is the ideal place to relax and enjoy the beauty of nature, art and good food, it is a place where you can breathe the history of a family that has made passion its job.
To guard this legacy is Maria Luisa, who continued to manage the Locanda after the death of Angelo and Stefano. Maria Luisa welcomes guests with professionalism and kindness, it is she who takes care of keeping the spirit of the Inn alive, taking care of every detail and transmitting her love for this place. It will make you feel at home.
